» Gender: Male

CHARACTER INTERPRETATION
» Appearance: 6’4’’, 200lbs with shoulder length blond hair and clear blue eyes. Thor is muscular and fit, and was called ‘dreamy’ by a few female SHIELD agents. He is played by Chris Hemsworth, and Chris will be used for his PB.
» Suitability: N/A
» Orientation: Heterosexual. In the movies, he clearly shows interest in Jane Foster, kissing her a few times and even giving up his throne to be with her on Earth.
» Personality:

Raised as a warrior prince, Thor values honour, courage and honesty. He too lives by those qualities. Him keeping his words to Jane and telling her about Yggdrasil and the Nine Realms in the first movie is a good example of how he’s honorable. Fighting against the Destroyer without having his powers is also shows that he’s honorable man: he tries to protect the humans from a conflict that he thinks should only be fought between him and his brother Loki. In the first Avengers movie, he fights again against his brother, his kin, to defend Earth against the Chitari invasion, because it’s the right thing to do. This not only shows that he’s honorable, but it shows how courageous he can be, taking on enemies while out-powered and/or out-numbered. He also does the mature thing and takes responsibility for destroying the Bifröst by travelling the Nine Realms once it was rebuild to re-establish the peace that was broken by his actions. He protects his own people by taking the fight with the Dark Elves away from Asgard, so no Asgardian lives are taken in vain. And when Loki ‘dies’ to save him, he makes a point to tell his father that his brother died with honor, even after all Loki did to him.

Thor also shows that he values honesty and honor in other people. He trusts Phil Coulson only once the man keeps his words in returning Jane’s equipment, and this trust is solidified when the SHIELD agent tells Thor that he’s moved Jane to a safe location in order to protect her from Loki. Without spoiling anything about the latest Avenger movie (though I could be more precise if needed), the rest of the team reflects on how Thor is the most forth-coming of the Avengers; he doesn’t keep a lot of secrets.

With such qualities alse comes the need to brag about them. Thor is part of a proud race, the Asgardian and he is quick to remind anyone of that. Confident in his skills, he’s not above taunting his enemies with the fact that he’s one of the best warriors on Asgard. This pride in his people, that sometimes turns into a superiority complex is at the root of his distrust of the human justice as shown in the first Avenger movie, as he demands Loki to be returned to his world, to face Asgardian justice. It also makes him cocky, taunting his enemies as mentioned before, but also teasing his teammates into trying to lift Mjolnir, telling them afterwards that they are simply not worthy of wielding it. In the same vein, Thor can be a bit self-centered, thinking that Loki was trying to invade Earth only to punish him and not to simply conquer a lesser world. He also takes brash decision when it comes to Jane, acting before thinking fully, as bringing her on Asgard despite his father forbidding it.

Despite his pride and how it makes him act at times, Thor is a very selfless character, going on giving up his throne and right to rule over it, something he’s desired all of his life, in order to be with a mortal, and to protect her world against threats that humanity cannot deal with alone. He also puts himself at risk to do the right, whether it’s fighting against all odds, committing treason to save his people or using a rather dangerous way to learn the truth about his enemies (again, Age of Ultron spoilers, that could be clarified if asked).

On a lesser serious note, Thor has a good sense of humour, often bantering with his friends and with the Avengers. Even if his life span is almost eternal, he enjoys life to the fullest and has a knack to find the words needed to motivate his team, to see the light at the end of the tunnel despite the dark clouds ahead.

All in all, Thor is motivated by love. Love for his family: he wants to make his father proud, wants to save his people, wants to see his brother redeemed despite all he’s done. Love for Midgar, for Earth and the humans, leaving his own world to protect this small blue planet, this precious world. Love for his friends, for Jane, giving up a whole life ahead of him as King of Asgard to be with them, to share a part of his long life with Jane.
